IrisZorg in brief

IrisZorg is a large institution offering diversified addiction treatment services, sheltered housing and social support services. Anyone in need of professional help can call and count on Iriszorg via 'best practice', tried and tested programs for prevention, care, shelter and support, treatment, rehabilitation and probation. Our outpatient clinics are within easy reach for treatment to people experiencing hard times due to alcohol, drugs and gambling dependencies. People who are (temporarily) homeless will find shelter within IrisZorg through a varied range of facilities, such as day and night care, crisis emergency care, halfway houses or sheltered housing. IrisZorg offers help to adults, families and young people. In addition, IrisZorg provides information and advice to relatives and friends of (potential) clients and all other interested parties.

IrisZorg is an accredited organization for probation and rehabilitation services for the county court districts of Arnhem and sections of Zutphen. People who are brought to court as a result of their alcohol, drugs or gambling dependencies will be referred to Iriszorg for specialized rehabilitation and probation services.

IrisZorg is also dedicated to the prevention of substance abuse both through activities providing information, advice, training sessions, educational programs and providing current research results into regional and social trends in drug use. These activities are particularly geared towards parents and young people in the street and towards schools.

Moreover, as a professional organization, IrisZorg works as a consultancy and gives expert advice. We consult with government authorities, institutions and companies on policy issues. Different types of professionals in the somatic and mental health care organizations often consult us on methods of signalling addictions and making substance use, medication, addiction care and social support, subject to discussion.

In the entire extensive area in which IrisZorg operates, it works together with different care providers, social institutions and government authorities in order to provide tailor-made care.

The Iris
The Iris, or rainbow stone, is a type of mountain crystal that in its polished form is characterized by transparency and many-faceted-ness. These features symbolize the views and mission of IrisZorg: each client is unique and is entitled to receiving his or her special care and attention.

The organization
IrisZorg has a staff of 1,200 people, comprising, a varied range of professionals, case managers, activity coaches, doctors, psychologists, but also psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses and socio-therapists in addition to considerable numbers of different types of social workers, street corner workers and occupational therapists. Many co-workers provide the general and technical services, organizations of this size need, such as human resource officers, public relations officers, management assistants, ICT workers, financial & administrative services and the like.

IrisZorg branch offices and facilities can be found in over seventy locations, spread around the major part of Gelderland, part of Overijssel, and the Flevopolder. Our headquarters are based in Arnhem. Focused on providing optimum service and care, IrisZorg cooperates closely with associated care providers, social organizations, and government bodies in its territory.

IrisZorg combines addiction care, shelters and social support in one organization. This greater emphasis on shelter and social support, aside from professional addiction care services make IrisZorg a unique combination in the Netherlands, offering many advantages to our clients. Clients already receiving shelter and social support services, but whose distressing substance abuse had not been addressed sufficiently, now have new perspectives for personal progress, because addiction treatment services are within easy reach. Clients already managing their addictions after treatment, but still in need of structuring their daily lives, are being offered new opportunities for a meaningful existence through halfway houses, sheltered housing and day care activities. In short: together our facilities and support programs make a valuable chain.
